The building, at 29 Birger Jarlsgatan, was designed by an unknown architect in 1884. Since then it has been the home of many different businesses, such as the Hotel Clara Larsson, for example. At the rear of the hotel was the legendary Restaurant Damberg which opened in 1903. The real estate office, however, wanted to pull the building down in 1979, but this was opposed by the Stockholm City Museum. The Hotel was then taken over and after a very extensive, full restoration programme, the new hotel was opened in 1984.
It is the Hotels intention to add a degree of elegance to the environment, and it is in the many small details that you will find the difference between the Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza and other hotels. The suites have been elegantly renovated, retaining such original details as stucco work and tiled stoves, all for guests with particularly high demands for calm and secluded surroundings.
The Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza offers three conference rooms, the largest of which can accommodate 55 people. The elegant rooms are light and well equipped with all the necessary technical equipment.
